Essays

Following the liberation of France in 1944, Jean Tabaud spent the next eight years in Morocco. During that time he devoted himself to art, painting many scenes of the Moroccan landscape as well as portraits of the Moroccan people.

He also established a school of ballet and wrote innumerable essays and commentaries on art and the dance, which were published in the newspapers of Tanger and Casablanca.

Two of his essays have been translated into English and are posted on this website both in English and French. The others can be read in French as they originally appeared in Moroccan newspapers in the early 1950s..

  • What do you think of Picasso?
La Dépêche Marocaine, Tanger, Morocco, 1950 - [English - French]
  • Ou sont les sèches haridelles que DEGAS peignait au vinaigre? - Elles continuent de hanter les sous-préfectures ...
Morocco 195x - Scan of article - French
